Thank you for participating in “Blowing on the Embers.”
“The Embers” began as a school assignment, to explore the role of writing in the pastoral life. Since its birth this blog has come to include reflections on scripture, searching and wrestling with spiritual self-examination, shared quotes from books I read during my coursework or personal reading, and illuminated moments where God’s work and presence shine through “thin places” in my life.
My writing is, of course, public; however, my primary audience is my own self. I need a space to verbally organize the subtle and subterranean movements of my spirit so I can better understand them myself. My prayer is, that as I discover and articulate for myself what the Holy Spirit is up to in my life, those who read this blog will also see the Holy Spirit’s activity and presence in their own lives more clearly.
And this is the most significant answer to “Why a blog?” I cannot become more like Jesus Christ without the community of disciples who are “on the journey” with me. We all grow up into Christlikeness together. So I invite you to read, to share, to comment, to rate, to “like.” Let “the Embers” become a shared space where we grow into mature apprentices of Christ together.
